  • Implant Dentistry
  • Orthodontics

Our office is proud to provide patients with CEREC CAD/CAM restorative technology. All treatments that include all-ceramic crowns, onlays, inlays and/or veneers can be completed in one visit, reducing the number of injections, the amount of drilling and the amount of time taken from your schedule.

Whereas most dental restorative methods require a minimum of two appointments, CEREC completes the treatment, from start to finish, in one visit. A typical appointment without CEREC would go as follows:

  1. During the first visit, the patient would be anesthetized, the tooth would be prepared, and impressions would be taken to be sent to a dental lab. The patient would wear a temporary crown until the second visit.

  2. A couple of weeks later, the second appointment would include another injection of anesthesia, removal of the temporary crown and placement of the final, permanent restoration.

Root canal therapy, the widely “infamous” procedure, is used to save teeth from their worst case scenario: an extraction. This treatment focuses on cleaning the interior of the tooth due to the infection of its nerve. Our office uses special anesthetic practices and technological devices which allow Dr. Ma to complete the treatment in a reasonable amount of time and with the tenderest care possible to avoid patient discomfort.

Once a root canal therapy is completed on a tooth, it is cemented temporarily until the final restoration is placed, protecting it from further harm. This restoration can be accomplished quickly in our office by using CEREC.

Periodontic treatment is any treatment concerning the gums. Gums are important as they assist in the foundation of teeth, holding fast to both tooth and bone. Without proper care, gums may begin to recede and expose the roots of teeth. This may be due to overaggressive brushing, inadequate brushing and flossing, or periodontal disease (periodontitis) caused by excessive bacterial plaque.

To remedy this, Dr. Ma provides Scaling and Root Planing to initially clean and medicate gums, and post-operation visits to maintain and re-vitalize the infected area(s). Our office also utilizes Arestin, a locally-delivered antibiotic, to treat candidates. Arestin has proven itself to be greatly effective; it kills bacterial plaque for 21 days after placement, which allow the tooth and gum to heal and return to its natural, optimal health.

There are two major types of cosmetic dentistry that our office offers:

  1. Zoom!® One-Hour Whitening

If you are a candidate for bleaching, Zoom!® is a quick, convenient and easy way to attain the shade you desire. Commonly featured on make-over television shows, Zoom!® is a one-hour teeth whitening laser treatment that results in teeth being six to ten shades lighter.

  2. Veneers

Veneers can be an alternative to both Zoom!® and orthodontics, since they give patients the shade and shape of teeth that they want. Instead of the estimated two-year treatment orthodontics provides, veneers automatically straighten your smile as well as provide natural, beautiful shapes to each tooth. Best of all, veneers can be completed quickly in our office with the use of our CEREC system. Instead of two to three visits due to lab work, veneers can be completed in one!

Implant dentistry is a great option for any patient needing prosthetics. A thorough evaluation by Dr. Ma will help determine whether you are a good candidate for dental implants. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments. They then fuse to the jawbone and serve as a base for individual replacement teeth, bridges or dentures. Advantages in dental implants include a significant improvement in your ability to chew food, increased comfort and a more natural appearance in your smile.

Orthodontics involves the use of braces for aligning and straightening teeth. We provide straight-wire orthodontic treatment. These braces consist of arch wires and brackets; the arch wires would be threaded through the brackets which would be bonded to your teeth. This way, the arch wires act as a track and guide each tooth to its proper position. Orthodontics not only improves a patient’s bite, but also their hygiene, since a straighter smile allows for easier flossing and brushing.
